Tom Lenaerts

Tom Lenaerts, PhD, is Professor at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) where he is co-heading the Machine Learning Group (MLG). MLG targets machine learning, AI and behavioural intelligence research focusing on time series analysis, causal and network inference, collective decision-making, social AI and behavioural analysis with applications in finance, medicine, cybersecurity and biology. He is currently the director of the Interuniversity Institute of Bioinformatics in Brussels and also holds a partial affiliation as research professor with the Artificial Intelligence Lab of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, the Flemish counterpart of the ULB. He is vice-chair of the Benelux Association for Artificial Intelligence. He has worked in a variety of interdisciplinary domains and has co-authored many papers in AI in the different areas like evolutionary optimisation, collective intelligence, evolutionary game theory, computational biology and bioinformatics.
