Jess Reidel

Jess Riedel is a postdoc at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics specializing in quantum information, decoherence, and the quantum-classical transition. In particular, he has worked on dark-matter detection with matter interferometers and on rigorous definitions for wavefunction branches in a many-body context. As a visiting scholar at CHAI, he has been pursuing interest in the physical embedding of agents and in the formal verification of self-modifying hardware.
Riedel was previously a postdoc at IBM Research with Charlie Bennett. He earned his PhD in Physics from UC Santa Barbara in 2012, advised by Wojciech Zurek at Los Alamos National Lab. His website is jessriedel.com.
