Ian Baker has focused on shipping production-quality code and leading high-impact software teams for more than two decades. Professionally, he cofounded a YCombinator-backed startup and led it through its acquisition, built recommender systems and ML infrastructure at Dropbox, and worked to drive editor engagement at Wikipedia. He is also an accomplished industrial artist—with his collaborators, he holds the world record for the hottest video game, and built a 2.5 mile long straightedge that you could use to see the curvature of the Earth. His present goal is to bring industry-leading software engineering practices to academic research on AI alignment.
