George Obaido

George Obaido is a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, San Diego, United States. He holds a PhD in Computer Science at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He also obtained his Masters degree from the same university. His research interests lie in using machine learning to find solutions to many societal problems.

He has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines of computer science, particularly in the Data Economies and Data Markets Group of the Mechanism Design for Social Good – a multi-institutional initiative using techniques from algorithms, optimization, and mechanism design, along with insights from other disciplines, to improve access to opportunity for historically underserved and disadvantaged communities.
