CHAI PhD Students Have Accepted Jobs at DeepMind and MIT

15 Jul 2020

Rohin Shah and Dylan Hadfield-Menell have accepted jobs after the completion of their PhD studies. Rohin will work at DeepMind as a Research Scientist and Dylan will start working as an Assistant Professor at MIT starting in July 2021.

While at CHAI, Dylan was advised by Anca Dragan, Pieter Abbeel, and Stuart Russell. His research focused on algorithms that facilitate human-compatible artificial intelligence. In particular, he tried to develop frameworks that account for uncertainty about the objective being optimized.

Rohin was advised by Anca Dragan, Pieter Abbeel, and Stuart Russell. His research focused on methods that allow us to build AI systems that pursue the objectives their users intend them to pursue, rather than the objectives that were literally specified. Rohin also started the Alignment Newsletter while he was at CHAI.
